Matteo 10 years old is gifted for baseball. Through persistence, a solid work ethic and a great attitude, he was awarded a spot on the Exceptional. Unfoetunately, his father is temporary unemployed when the cost to play on this team is much higher than most.
Missing this amazing opportunity would be more than unfortunate for Matteo. Therefore, a fundraising is launched for him to play, enjoy and performas a happy little boy no matter what happens around him. A mom of 6 kids got a cooking training and a job. Because of a unhealthy home, all the family is evicted and must move far away to find somewhere else to sleep. The children quit their schools, the mother looses her job.
We mobilized our group, a private sale is planned and money is given through shopping cards for food and clothes for her kids. 6 months later : Hi Dominique, I wanted to let you know that I was contacted the other day by Rickki D., the KoC Alumnus you helped mobilize support for. She was calling to let us know that she had job opportunities to offer our new graduates who were interested. It turns out that Rickki received help in addition to the generous gifts from the French Community and she was able to move and secure housing in Novato where she now works at Novato Healthcare Center on their kitchen staff. She came in and was rapidly promoted. She and her family are doing very well. Thank you again for your help in support in securing success for Rickki and her family. We were happy to hear she was doing so well and returning the favor to others. :) Tierney Berlinski Workforce Training Coordinator St. Vincent de Paul, Alameda County |
